The amazing revenue benefits of the online gaming industry
are not being lost on many state governments that are beginning
to take notice. They have not lost sight of the incredible
revenue generating possibilities that it promises. Therefore
there are in fact some state legislatures that are trying
to adopt measures that will make Internet gambling a legal
activity in their respective states. For instance, the state
of Texas, which is one of these states, is contemplating
an additional $275 million in state revenues that experts
have calculated could be available to the state. The Texas
state legislature recently attempted to pass a proposal for
a state-sponsored online gambling site. The proposal, however,
was in the end not incorporated in the state budget plan
in spite of the incredible revenue generating likelihood
of the online gambling industry. A lottery resolution is
one of 46 proposals that are being considered at this time,
as a part of the state’s budget plan.
If the Internet gambling measure were to be adopted, it
would make it legal for Texas state residents to play the
lottery using ATM cards, debit cards, or by maintaining an
account with the Texas Lottery Commission.
It seems that members of the Texas House Appropriations
Committee don't feel that the extra revenue is necessary
as the committee chairman his been quoted as stating that
the measure will nevertheless only contribute an additional
one billion dollars to the current budget plan.
