Of Late it seems that Poker is experiencing some form pf
a renaissance of late. There are those that believe that
the industry of online gambling is fueling that renaissance.
Still, it is more accurate to say that poker is at the root
of the growth of the online gambling industry. Amongst experts
of the online gambling industry, online poker is the most
active topic around. It is being viewed as the current guarantor
of the prospective growth of Internet gambling. To put it
simply, the popularity of Internet poker is incredible and
there is still immense potential for even bigger worldwide
popularity and awareness of Internet poker.
This year alone, it is estimated by Industry analysts that
the amount of money gambled over the Internet on online poker
websites is well over sixty billion U.S. dollars. Furthermore,
75 percent of industry experts calculate that the global
annual cut, or rake as it is sometimes called, will even
exceed four billion U.S. dollars during the next two to three
years. Moreover, during the next two to three years, online
poker, in accordance with more than sixty percent of online
gambling industry experts, will rule over all other Internet
gambling games.
The increasing number of successful television shows that
feature poker matches and tournaments on them, is yet another
reason why poker has experienced such a fantastic global
renaissance. As an example we can look to the European Poker
Tour on Eurosport, or the World Series of Poker on ESPN,
not to mention Celebrity Poker on Bravo. These are just a
few examples of the expanding and thriving television coverage
that poker is experiencing.
The status of online poker has also gone up within the
global business and financial arena. One of the major online
gambling firms in the UK Sportingbets, as one example, just
recently bought poker website, Paradie Poker. Even though
the website was begun only six years ago, Sportingbets paid
300 million US dollars for it. However, a survey of industry
experts showed that more than 53 percent of them believe
that 300 million US dollars is in fact an appropriate price
to pay for a poker site.
Studies also indicate, moreover, that in the future, as
the competition grows and revenues per player drop, the online
poker market will become tougher. Studies also indicate Europe
as the area to go for geographical expansion with 52 percent
of industry experts agreeing that Europe offers the maximum
future potential for online poker. PartlyPoker, for example,
a market leader in the online gambling industry, plans in
the very near future to advertise heavily on television throughout
Europe. It already operates its website in two separate languages;
one in English and the other in German.
