The new Gaming Bill
that has just been passed in the United Kingdom will regulate
online gambling. Those in the online gaming industry have
given it their strong positive support. Chartwell Technology,
a company which provides software to online gambling companies,
is one of the companies that perceives this legislation as
a major step in the right direction in providing Internet
gamblers with a regulated but safe and secure online environment.
Chartwell’s CEO, Lee Richardson, has stated that this
bill, the Gaming Bill, will probably come into operation
by 2006, and should a necessary impetus for comparable regulatory
advancements in such other jurisdictions as Europe.
Chartwell has been closely following the Gaming Bill since
its beginnings. It has invested heavily in European operations
in expectation of the Bill’s quick passage. The Chartwell
Games Head Office which is located in London, has been focusing
on the additional expansion and operation of their gaming
systems all over Europe. Examples of these gaming system
are Bingo Games, the increasingly popular online Poker, Casino
Games, Lotteries, and Kiosk linked solutions.
Reports and analyses regarding the Internet gaming industry
are published by Merrill Lynch and Informa Media Group, both
of which estimate that online gambling revenues should exceed
$14 billion by the end of 2006. $7.5 billion of that revenue
is expected to be derived from Europe.
It is important to point out that the issued reports do
not consider the financial effect passage of Britain’s
Gaming Bill may well have on the gambling industry, nor do
they consider the impact that successive similar measures
on the part of other countries will have.
