Online Poker Pioneer Appointed Director

Betfair, the online gambling group, has appointed online poker industry veteran Bruce Stubbs as Director of Poker with immediate effect. Betfair Poker was launched in May 2004 and operates under a Maltese license. Ben Fried remains with the company as Head of Poker for Great Britain and Ireland.
Bruce Stubbs was previously Marketing Director at Paradise Poker and now joins Betfair Poker, having been part of the online poker phenomenon since its infancy.

Niall Wass, Betfair’s Managing Director says, “This appointment is further evidence that we take our online poker business very seriously. Bruce has an impressive track record in the online poker industry and has proven time and again that that he delivers the goods. We look forward to feeling his depth of knowledge and its impact on the development of our poker strategies.”
Stubbs’ most recent role was as the Betfair Project Manager for the World Series of Poker Europe which was presented by Betfair.com. In this capacity he played a key role in the tournament’s success. More recently, he was involved in the behind-the-scenes activity in securing Betfair Poker’s high profile sponsorship of the 19 year-old Norwegian poker prodigy Annette Obrestad.
