With fifteen gambling companies already stationed on its shores, Gibraltar has recently passed a new law creating a licensing and regulatory body to monitor the industry.

As the BBC reports, the new law will sanction a ministerial-controlled licensing Authority.
The current Gibraltar Regulatory Authority will, in the future, be positioned as the Gambling Commissioner.
One aspect of the law passed enforces online gambling operators to use computer equipment on the premises, which must be secure where unauthorized persons cannot enter.
The Gibraltar House of Assembly also outlined other stipulations. To conform with the conditions of 'responsible gambling', gambling websites with licenses in Gibraltar have to have links to organizations helping problem gamblers.
Furthermore, the company must be in contact with a named person, who will formulate responsible gaming policies.
Additionally, the gambling sites have to warn punters about the dangers of gambling beyond what they can afford.
They also have to clearly display their full name and licensing holder and the business address.
Furthermore, it is incumbent on the companies to regulate advertising and to prevent advertising that is misleading or deceptive.
With money laundering an increasing problem, licensing holders are given 24 hours to inform the Gambling Commissioner of suspected cases of money laundering.
In order to enforce the new measures, investigators and provisions will be appointed.
Spokesman for the Government hopes that the new licensing law will maintain Gibraltar's reputation as a leading jurisdiction for internet casino gambling.
