Playtech plc, the online gambling software developer has signed up its fourth Italian licensee in a poker agreement with Cogetech S.p.A, an Italian online and land based operator.
Cogetech provides sports betting “white label” solutions to several industry-leading Italian and global operators. The agreement marks another stage in the rapid growth of Playtech's Italian iPoker network, which recently added Snai, Sisal and Gala Coral's Eurobet Italia as licensees.
According to the terms of the license agreement, Playtech will provide Cogetech with its entire portfolio of poker games in tournament form. At present, the software is downloadable in a “play for fun” mode, which provides players with the opportunity of improving their strategies and honing their skills for free. A “play for real money” mode is intended for launch later this year.
The new product has been fully integrated with Cogetech's online betting system and the agreement complies with all Italian regulatory standards. It has been designed specifically to appeal to the Italian market and customized to meet all functional requirements, including a true ‘shared wallet’ experience between the sportsbook and poker room, with matching currency and language.
The Chief Executive Officer of Playtech, Mor Weizer, commented: “This latest addition of Cogetech to Playtech's Italian ipoker network demonstrates that the company is capturing an ever growing prominent position in the country, and is committed to expanding its presence in regulated European markets.
“We look forward to a long and productive partnership that will be mutually beneficial for both parties and to providing new and exciting gaming opportunities for our players.”
The Chief Executive Officer of Cogetech, Fabio Schiavolin, said, “We chose Playtech over other providers because they are one of the leading players in global management platforms with a very strong and liquid poker network. We look forward to working with them and to providing our customers with an exciting, reliable and continually evolving service which will provide the ultimate player satisfaction.”
