The banning of another Internet gambling advert

The recent bingo ad by Wink Bingo.com, has not found favor with the British Advertising Standards Authority, which this week declared the ad as banned.

Spacebar Media created the advertisement which showed a maternity nurse standing near a trolley and in her hands was a laptop and surgical equipment and she is making a celebration, where the marketing journal Brand Republic describes the laptop monitor displaying the Wink Bingo Winner. At the back of the nurse a surprised man is grasping a teddy bear and a woman’s legs in a bed beneath the sign of Maternity Unit displaying a Find the appropriate moment… slogan.

According to the advertisement’s designers, by displaying cheek, irreverence, impudence and a wee impishness, the aim was to differentiate Wink Bingo from competitors. A raised scenario of fantasy was displayed, the props and dress were not real and behind a screen a midwife could be lurking; the agency countered by answering complaints that it was demonstrating gambling at work and as being more important than professional needs.

In opposition to that the ASA, nevertheless, claimed that they accept that the advertisement’s aim was to depict a realistic scenario in a comical manner, yet in consideration of the fact that the advertisement however depicted a medical professional was inclined to prefer to play online bingo rather than deal with the woman giving birth.
