The winner's prize in this weeks World Poker Tour Ladies Night IV tournament held at the Bicycle Casino in Bell Gardens, California, went to Joanne “JJ” Liu who earned herself a $25,000 seat into the WPT's Championship Event and a coveted WPT ring.
The actress and champion poker player, Jennifer Tilly who was the Defending Ladies Night champion, was the first player to bow out, eliminated by amateur Kelli Griggs.
Then Vanessa Rousso fell to Griggs' aggressive play when she pushed all-in from the big blind on a flop of T-T-6, thinking her K6 was good, but ran straight into Griggs' flopped trip tens.
Liu went on to eliminate Erica Schoenberg and Anahit Galajian, leaving the heads up confrontation between Lui and Griggs after only three hours of final table play. The final act was played out in similar style, with Liu dispatching Griggs in just over 20 minutes.
This latest big poker tournament win of “JJ” Liu's brings the number of money finishes she has achieved in major tournaments to forty-five. “JJ” has grossed more than three quarters of a million dollars in the process.
“JJ” is a controlled and professional player of great talent and deserves the rewards she plays for.
