888 UK Poker Open To Be Aired On TV

The 888 gambling group announced this week that if there are any online poker players who are still seeking a sponsored seat in the 2006 UK Poker Open championships, they can qualify through 888.com satellite tournaments which are aired on the Internet every Sunday.

Maidstone in England will be the setting for the championships which will start on September 5 and run through to October 8. Players still have the opportunity to earn a place through Internet play for a modest buy-in of $100 plus $5.

The site also offers free daily super satellites where players can win their way into the Sunday qualifier. The last qualifier for the U.K. Poker Open will be September 17.

The $500,000 prize pool will be shared by both online players as well as poker pros.
Mike Herea, 888.com promotions department manager said, “In the U.K. Open, our online poker players will have the opportunity of playing real live high-class poker, meeting great poker pros and taking part in one of the most high-action tournaments in Europe.”

The event will be broadcast every day at 11 p.m. on Challenge TV.
