The field narrowed down over the weekend in the main event in the World Series of Poker and some of the big names dropped out as well.
There were only 135 players left by Saturday night and by Sunday night it was down to the last 45. The really famous names such as last year's champion Joe Hachem, Daniel Negreanu, Josh Arieh and Phil Ivey have all busted out.
They are in the money though. The last player to go out on Sunday was Sean Johnson who collected a check for $164,932 for his trouble which shows just how large the prize pool is. Play will resume at noon Vegas time on Monday with a field of the remaining 27 players out of the 8,773 who sat down to play in the first round.
At this stage Jamie Gold is holding a comfortable lead in the chip counts on $7,330,000 and his closest competitor is Eric Friberg some way behind but still dangerous with $5,905,000.
From now on all those who are still remaining will collect handsome checks as they are eliminated. Everyone, of course, has high hopes of making it to the final table, where payouts for each of the finalists will exceed a million dollars.
The champion will walk away with a cool $12 million!
