The Toulouse Football Club has signed an agreement with the Gibraltar based gambling group 888.com whereby 888 will be the official sponsors of the football club from this week. In terms of the contract the deal will run for two seasons.
The agreement is the latest venture in 888’s diversification, multi-channel marketing strategy aimed at increasing its non-US customer base. A spokesman for 888 said the deal complimented their operational strategy of well supported multi-lingual websites and audiences which it currently maintains across 177 countries and in up to 11 languages.
The Toulouse sponsorship is in keeping with several other successful sports sponsorship programs, including the Middlesbrough Football Club in England, and the iconic World Snooker Championship which has opened marketing avenues in snooker strongholds such as China and the Far East.
888.com’s second quarter results for 2006 showed a decline in new customer acquisitions but an overall increase in the average amount that each customer spent.
John Anderson, Chief Executive Officer of 888 said: “Our investment in sports sponsorship has yielded terrific results to date in the UK, which was our fastest growing territory last year.”
“Our current strategy is to roll this out through Continental Europe and I am pleased to announce this agreement with Toulouse to show that we are putting our ideas into practice.”
