Season 5 Gaming recently opened its doors to operators searching for something a little more unique in the skill gaming arena. The London-based company claims their new release offers crowds something different to the massive range already available. According to company spokesman, the new release offers players a unified online platform allowing them to play the skills based games live. The game became available following half a year of testing. Amongst the games offered are multiplayer games as well as single player games. It also offers tournaments including prize pools for single player games. This is an industry first, in addition to the multiplayer tournaments. Furthermore, all games allow players to the wager or non-wager option. The past month has seen Season 5 Gaming release an additional two new games. These are: Poker Solitaire and Gin Rummy. This is in addition to their list of games already available including Ro Sham Bo (Rock Paper Scissors), Ship Battle, Chess, Octoneuro and Acromania According to Karen McDade, the company director, Season 5 Gaming's platform concentrates on player interaction and community. The company reveals that strong player interaction and community equates to high player retention, and this is important for operators. Additionally, their software engine is particularly flexible. This means that third party game developers are permitted to develop new games while porting their existing titles over Season 5 Gaming's platform. This allows these third party developers to grow their bottom line by sharing revenue and increasing their product exposure. The skills based game is relatively new in the online gaming industry. Nonetheless, interest is gather momentum amongst online gamers and gamblers. Predictions indicate that the industry is expected to grow substantially in the coming years. According to McDade, the new release is viewed as the third generation of skill gaming. She adds that the first games were simple online and single-player games, that had little sense of achievement and even less challenge. What followed were hybrid of the first generation, but this time integrating additional hybrid based gambling systems. Many of these were developed for Java or Flash – however, they are still subject to limitations.
