Betfair makes it to Asia

Singapore will be the location of a two million dollar live poker event to be hosted by an online poker firm, Betfair.
Betfair is the first internet gaming company to receive permission to present a poker tournament in the City.
Betfair is cooperating with local operators – Capital Events – in organizing and hosting the watershed contest.
The tournament will take place in November this year.
Players from around the globe will descend on the Singapore location in competition and anticipation of the two million dollar prize fund.
All comers are invited to attend. This includes local players, enthusiasts and of course professionals. In order to qualify, players can play at Betfair Poker and at live tournaments throughout the world.
Betfair is using the event as an opportunity to increase it Asian profile. By working with local partners they also hope to guard the sensitivities and regulatory restriction of the region.
According to the Company's Head of Poker, Ben Fried, the location in Singapore couldn’t be better. In addition, it is an opportunity to be able to host such a significant event.
