The first ever Annual Johnny Chan Poker Classic at the River Rock Casino Resort in Richmond, B.C. ended this week with a stunning win for poker pro Henry Tran who ended up with the winner's prize of $325,000.
Tran was $2 million ahead in chips when he finally sat down for the heads up with Joe Corbett. The final action of the largely pro tournament was brief and professional all the way through to the final hand, where Tran challenged Corbett with K-8 against K-6. No help came for Corbett and Tran took the honors, leaving Corbett with a very respectable second prize of $200,000.
The event was the culmination of a thriller of a tournament that featured great poker names like Brad "Yukon" Booth, prodigy Jimmy "Gobboboy" Fricke, Greg "FBT" Mueller, Lacey Jones and of course the great Johnny Chan himself.
