According to China's Ministry of Public Security, Chinese police have detained over seven hundred suspects for online gambling. In a report by Xinhua press, Chinese police have prosecuted over three hundred and fifty online gamblers.
According to official ministry reports, online gambling, pornography, viruses and hackers are a growing and serious problem. They are blocking the governments attempts to establish a healthy and secure internet environment.
The official remarked that the government will not be easing its pressure on this issue. He continued that the ministry, as well as several public security organizations have created web sites where those citizens can report online crimes.
the Ministry has begun working with several relevant departments in order to spread the knowledge of what is acceptable and what is illegal in relation to the internet. They hope to promote awareness as well as a healthy and ordered Internet environment.
