According to press reports emanating from the territory this week, the government of Gibraltar is discussing plans to create a new post of Ombudsman for financial services. The post will also include matters relating to the gambling industry.
The move was revealed by the Chief Minister, Peter Caruana in an exchange with the Opposition MP Fabian Picardo during Thursday's meeting of the Gibraltar Parliament. The title of the Ombudsman had not yet been decided, stated Mr. Caruana, adding that the scope of the post was likely to include other areas where consumer issues arose.
