The World Poker Tour World Championships began earlier this week. It is taking place for the fourth time at the Bellagio hotel and Casino, in Las Vegas. The championship is a major premier league in the poker world. Over six hundred contestants will compete for the big prize from a pool of $15,125,000. Opponents come from over forty countries to compete. The competition lasts for six days. The first prize is almost $4 million. While second, third and fourth will also enjoy prizes worth somewhere in the million dollar mark. To participate players need to buy in at over $25,000. So, while the competition is not cheap, neither are its prizes. This particular championship is considered one of the most challenging on the circuit. This has been confirmed by competitor Steve Lipscomb – founder and CEO of WPT Enterprises Inc. according to Steve, if you are going to pay the sum to participate, you will probably be a highly skilled player. The World Poker Tour World Championships is the final crown of the World Poker Tour's fourth season. The total prize money it has pooled over seventeen tournaments exceeds $85 million. The current tournaments are airing on the Travel Channel every Wednesday. Thanks to this there are twenty new poker millionaires. By Monday 24th April at 4pm, the final table will commence. From the 606 contestants, only six will remain. From them will be crowned the victor.
