The Swedish Government clearly supports online gambling. In fact this week they closed a deal to become the first government to own an online poker room website. Reports about the deal between Swedish Games Corp. and Boss Media were being made since the beginning of this year. This week, however, the deal was clinched and closed. Boss Media have already developed the poker site, which was launched last week. With such success, it is expected that other government gaming companies will take up similar projects by launching their own sites. With over 140 World Lotter Association (WLA) – a government – owned enterprise, the Swedish one, Svenska Spel, is at the vanguard of them all. According to Boss Media president, Johan Berg, there are numerous companies following. They are all very aware of his company's role in the project. The Swedish government gave Svenska Spel the approval to become the first Swedish gaming company late last year. Since then, all the preparatory and foundation work were undertaken as quick as possible. They have engineered a first-class site in both entertainment and responsibility. Berg emphasized how critical responsible gaming was for the government licensed companies. It includes higher security for both the end users and the gaming company, as there is increased control of the gaming operations.
