This year's World Poker Tour World Championship will consist of the nineteen top poker players at a cost of over half a million dollars.The championship began on April 18 in Las Vegas. It is being hosted by the Bellagio Hotel and runs for one week – until April 24. Each of Poker Rooms teams spots is valued at $27, 900. this includes travel, accommodation, expenses and the cost of an entry pass – valued at $25, 000.
The group of players were selected from a pool of over 100 players. These players represented PokerRoom.com in many of the most prestigious poker tournaments internationally. In order to qualify for the land based poker events, players have to first play through online qualifying tournaments.
There is a very diverse group of members comprising the Team PokerRoom.com. They include sports apparel sales representatives based in Texas to Californian investment banking analysts. Jim Davenport, for example, won his endorsement deal only a month ago.
He won his $250,000 endorsement package by winning the inaugural PokerRoom.com 'Become a Poker Pro' event. This package includes all traveling expenses and buy-ins for at least 12 of the major poker tournaments.
