BlueMoon sues Bodog

According to reports by Professional-Poker, the Los Angeles reality TV company, BlueMoon Entertainment, recently lodged a complaint and case against the upcoming Calvin Ayre-Bodog poker show.
The case has been lodged with the LA Superior Court. According to the plaintiff the poker reality show "Wild Card Poker" too closely resembles BlueMoon's poker show concept "Poker Showdown".
Much hype was created throughout the mainstream press recently, when the wrap party for the show was invaded by Costa Rican authorities.
Bodog's show, hosted by Ayre himself, will have its first episode aired on Fox Sports TV during the coming week. However, BlueMoon have been making attempts to prevent the show airing. Nevertheless, until now these attempts haven’t passed, since the judge chose to prohibit the application for an injunction which would suspend the screening.
Wild Card Poker includes six episodes in a reality TV series.
It is a $500 000 poker tournament that includes cuts about Costa Rican lifestyle elements as well as the activities of Bodog's billionaire founder, Calvin Ayre.
Alternatively, BlueMoon is a reputed and established producer of documentaries. It also has a reputation for reality shows, many of which have been aired on leading US Television networks over the last ten years.
The disagreement stems from a business relationship that connected the two groups in the past. This is evident in BlueMoon's claims making reference to professional input into a project disclosure as well a several proposals and development materials. They also gave advice in terms of overviews, synopsis, episodic outlines, distribution and marketing breakdowns.
These occurred between May and August last year.
Spokesman for Bodog has claimed the company hired legal counsel. He also stated they will file defense and counterclaim measures in court if necessary.
Nevertheless, the companies hope some agreement or settlement can be made before the case reaches court. Indeed, they have stated they hope to avoid the need for litigation.
