According to a recent report by Global Industry Analysts Inc., the California-based analyst service, it is land based casinos that are going to see the greatest growth as being the largest element in the worldwide commercial gambling market worldwide. The service sees casino revenues as growing at a rate of 7.8 percent compounded annually. Fully eighty percent of world casinos are located in the United States and in Europe, accounting for $91 billion in annual revenues.
This same report projects that the United States alone will account for revenues of $68 billion from casinos, by the year 2010. The fastest growing market for casinos however, is projected as being the Asia-Pacific market. This is slated to appear as the fastest growing casino market. But along with this will be a strong regulatory environment at the regional and global levels and this alone is considered as being one of the major factors that will shape the land based casino industry's fortunes in the future.
There are still major well known problems that are endemic to the gambling industry continues which they are working to head off and includes the problem with underage gambling and problem gamblers.
Some of the better known names in this marketplace include Ameristar Casinos, Ladbrokes Ltd, Harrah's Entertainment, MGM Mirage, Century Casinos, Isle of Capri Casinos, Station Casinos and Sun International.
