Ontario politician calls for a ban to online gambling advertising

Ontario Politician has called for a ban on all online gambling advertising within the province.
Liberal MPP Jeff Leal recently introduced the bill which he hopes will illegalize online gambling advertising.
Canoe, a Canadian base publication, made the report this week of Leal's intentions.
Leal sited warnings from organizations such as the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health against internet gambling.
Nevertheless, the issue of gambling from tradition avenues such as casinos was not highlighted as a problem – possibly due to the substantial financial contributions they make to the government.
Accordingly, motivations fuelling the bill are not altogether clear and idealistic. Indeed, online gambling is ebbing the flow of cash to the traditional and permitted gambling outlets such as casinos, and therefore to the government itself, according to Public Infrastructure Minister David Caplan.
According to a recent poll conducted by Addiction and Mental Health, over 5 percent of Ontario adults have participated in online gambling.
