The Spanish Government's Proposal to Regulate Online Gambling.

The Spanish Ministry of the Interior, Comisión Nacional del Juego will provide an update on the Spanish Government’s proposals to regulate online gambling on March the 9th 2009.

At a special conference, to be called “Online Gambling in Spain - A Regulatory Update”, Spain will be one step closer to new regulations for online gambling. Madrid's Inter-Continental Hotel will host leading regulators, advisers and operators in an open debate concerning issues associated with the proposals.

International and domestic operators, who are considering entering the online gambling market, know the pitfalls associated with constantly changing government requirements. María Ángeles González, Technical Secretary General from the Ministry of Interior, Comisión Nacional del Juego, will address the participants on the changes coming and will hopefully provide a new viewpoint for the industry regulators.

Legal Link,a Spanish Law Firm that is in support of the conference is represented by Managing Partner, Xavier Munoz Bellvehi. He affirms, “With the specter of regulatory change looming, operators need light on the direction that this regulation may take and how it will potentially affect their strategy and operations."

A host of experts and consultants have been invited to this ground-breaking event to speak. Those expected to contribute are Artemi Rallo, Director General, Spanish Data Protection Commission; Eduardo Antoja, President, Spanish Gaming Association (FACOMARE); Juan Barrachina, Chairman, Spanish Poker Association; André Wilsenach, Chief Executive Officer, Alderney Gambling Control Commission; Sasha Michard, General Manager Iberia, Betfair Espana; Carlo Costanzia, Chief Strategy Officer, Gioco Digitale, Italy; Fernando Ors, Business Development Director, Codere; Alberto Eljarrat, Chief Executive Officer, Sportium.

It is encouraging to see the people in charge doing the right thing. It is important to get the information out there so that interested parties in the industry will understand the risks and potential gains for their ventures. If all goes according to plan, those who attend this conference will be able to better negotiate a path to online success.
