Poker becomes a reality TV series

Recently it was reported on the the Bodog Gambling Group's adventures into reality television. The bulletins were confirmed this week, along with comprehensive detail of the upcoming series which were also released.
The founder and CEO of Bodog, Calvin Ayre will be hosting the six-episode television reality show. Taping begins in March at Bodog's Costa Rica compound. Each episode will be aired on Saturdays from 23:00 to 01:00 EST. The first episode will be aired on April 15 this year.
The mission statement for the program is to find the next big poker star. They are also interested in showcasing the play hard aspects of the Bodog lifestyle. According to Ayre, the combination of poker and television, along with the bodog-style entertainment factor is sure to make "one heck of a show". Ayre is obviously eager to take the step in the world of reality television.
The series will document, intimately, the details and journey of forty individual poker players. Included in this forty will be 10 celebrities, 10 professionals and 20 Bodog players. The prize will be half a million US dollars. Accordingly, each will be expected to exploit the card-playing skills to win the grand prize.
Each episode will include one poker game with the winner taking home $50,000 and securing for him / her self a seat at the final table and a chance at the big prize.
For many, they are simply hoping to win the trip to the Costa Rican estate and sit alongside the poker stars and celebrities and be apart of the globally broadcasted television series.
To be eligible, participants need to set up a Bodog.net account and complete the application questionnaire.
The show will include not only poker games, but will also include excursion through Costa Rica, artisans from Bodog Music and it will also feature the show's host and his luxury lifestyle.
