According to James Murdoch, TV and gambling will be bigger than Ben Hur. That’s right, according to Murdoch's predictions, it is destined to be 'a powerful synergistic force in the future.' Murdoch was recently appointed Chief Executive of PBL as well as the British Satellite TV company BSkyB. The statement was made to bookmakers in London a few days ago. As a guest speaker at the Bookies Banquet, Murdoch described his own as well as his group's surprise to the overwhelmingly positive response to its Sky Vegas Live Channel. He continued by saying that while the audience included less than 10,000, evidence from their response suggests that this presents a major possibility for the future. The banquet was held and organized by Orbis. Sky Vegas Channel was launched less than a year ago. The channel features virtual racing and keno programming. Nevertheless, Nick Rust agreed that interactive television and gaming presented a powerful combination, the possibilities of which have only just begun dawning on the brains of both businessmen and players. Predictions are that within the near future, interactive poker channels will be readily available. The demand is high. For example, during the last week of February, eleven channels in the United Kingdom featured poker content. However, they all presented it very similarly. With UK regulations under diagnosis, the possibilities for change are in the air. Indeed, interactive television and gambling could be closer than most people imagine.
