At a conference in Rhodes last week of the World Lottery Association, Svenska Spel, the gambling firm which is Swedish state property, was accepted with its obligation to responsible gambling. Anders Hagg, the current CEO of Svenska Spel, claimed he was most happy to be recognized for the considerable investing made by the company in this sphere, and Anders Borg, the Finance Minister of Sweden expressed pride in the firm.
At the time of the last conference of the WLA, in Singapore, in 2006, the award was set up to enhance responsible gambling in the industry’s operations. The WLA Award for Responsible Gaming Excellence is the prize which is won by the firm demonstrating the finest practice within gaming’s field of responsibility.
Arch Gleason, the president of the WLA, as well as Mike Randall, the chairman of the jury, declared that this year’s award is to be awarded to Svenska Spel, which according to them has in general manifested in the field of gaming responsibility, first class behavior. In the gaming agent/retailer second category, the first prize for the best training program went to Svenska Spel too. A group of specialists in Corporate Social Responsibility comprised the jury, they all originated from different spheres, for instance industry and commerce.
Hagg commented on receiving the prize that they were naturally extremely delighted and proud, as over the last years, many gaming firms across the globe have made heavy investments in the development of the programs for gaming responsibility, and therefore it has been hard going in competing for this award.
According to Margareta Winberg, the chairwoman of Svenska Spel, the firm’s commitments posed by the government lucidly focuses on social responsibility as the key aim of activities performed by Svenska Spel. And that is the apparent cause for feeling so good that international specialists who are independent have confirmed that the firm is presently in the lead of development in this significant field. This gives us an incentive leading us to improve even more as it is a significant acknowledgement.
