Poker Stars.com which is believed to be the largest online poker website in the world's, through its ongoing successes is still stunning and amazing pundits and online gaming experts. The latest response is to its achievement of a series of record breaking statistics which only act to underscore how successful this operation has become. All this in the face of its having to leave the United States market to its competitors, examples being Pacific Poker and Party Poker.
It was just last week that news was released regarding the achievement of Poker Stars when it was reported to have had in access of twenty thousand real-money online players online at the same time. This occurred on December 27th. This fantastic figure didn't last long and was broken only days later when attendance reached 22,293 paying players online at the same time.
Another record is being announced as having been achieved by the site on its site blog which claims that a new record for overall traffic was achieved on December 20th when a reported 150,000 visitors were on the site at the same time.
According to a blog posted by Brad "Otis" Willis, it was the Sunday tournaments being held at PokerStars that caused the heavy traffic. Over 1,800 players competed for a prize pool of $1.8 million. The quarterly buy-in was set at $1,050.
It was last February 2006 that PokerStars achieved the honor of being the first online poker site to have 100,000 simultaneous visitors. This was noted in the Guinness Book of World Records for the following year.
