Online gambling has no doubt expanded since it inception in the 1990s.Now, however, it is spilling over from the traditional casino games into general betting. Thanks to ease and access online gambling has also fuelled sports betting. In fact, predictions are that the 2006 Super Bowl XL will be the most bet-on sporting event. Indeed, football fans throughout the United States have already begun placing their bets for the upcoming match.
Millions of people will be betting, and even more money is expected to flow between now and the big game. While some do it for the money, many also bet simply for the fun and often place their wagers through an office pool or online.
Online gaming is set to make this year's Super Bowl top on the list of sports betting events. According to industry analysts – Christian Capital Advisors, last year's Super Bowl attracted a total revenue of bets of $450 - $600 million. Conversely, results released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board indicated that less than one-hundred million dollars was wagered in Las Vegas during the same year.
The results are not so shocking. In fact, the Super Bowl has always been known as the most bet on sports event. It is simply that online gaming has assisted in expanding the betting market opportunities. Many, such as Alex Czajkowski a sports analyst from sportsbook.com, are even predicting that this year the Super Bowl will be the world's most bet on sports event.
