Casinos are about to get a technological face lift.

New technologies are changing the world of gambling. This is true for not only for the online gambling world, but also for land based casinos.

Last year's September Global Gaming Expo, exposed the industry to the technological possibilities of the near future.
In order to forward field trials to as early as next year, regulators and equipment manufacturers have been working together to advance the rules and technical standards.
For land based casinos, the technology is being targeted at developing the slot machines.
Initially it will focus on improving the profitability of the machines for operators.
However, changes are tedious and cumbersome and impede on the profit and output of the machines.
As one operator pointed out, on a floor with 2,000 machines to make some change in the component entails opening and changing each machine individually. This is time consuming and the machines aren’t function, and earning, during this time.
As IGT spokesman Ed Rogich says, such transformations present a big task. Such tasks take place each time the government treasury introduces new bills into the currency.
The new technology will introduce server based games.
This will link all machines electronically and centrally to a computer file server.
This file server will be able to implement the changes in the time it takes for software to download – this basically means instantly!
Demonstrating the new technologies bravados, Alliance Gaming's Chief Technology Officer, Bob Luciano, changed the systems of ten slot machines within a few mouse clicks.
Though some of the downloadable technology has been installed within the gaming for several years already, only recently have manufacturers been able to overcome the security issues.
Regulators in Nevada have deliberately taken a slow pace prior to approving standards for the systems.
According to Gaming Control Board Chairman, Dennis Neilander, the board has purposely moved slowly to allow it to gather all suggestion before making a final approval.
Following approval, field trials will be conducted, where casino operators will be able to determine for themselves exactly how much the technological advancements benefit their business and revenue.
If it goes according to analysts' predications, the outcomes could be huge.
